Macroom School of Art is an arts education and exhibition centre. MSA provides the community with access to art activities and processes which enable expression, engagement, exploration of opinions on issues and topics relevant to the artists. We work as a social enterprise to enrich the community by increasing awareness of the value and diversity of artistic expression. We provide these through workshops, classes, projects, screenings, demonstrations, talks and exhibitions from experienced and professional artists in a safe and enriching environment.
We have a long record of delivery of innovative projects to high artistic standards and have quality and evaluations systems in place to ensure this. We develop detailed business plans and strategies for each of our main programmes. We have developed very interesting national and international links and partnerships, annually hosting international artists and young emerging artists in a range of arts disciplines.
MSA’s approach to working with adults with learning disabilities is an inclusive approach that focuses on integration to activities in the local community.
Our approach is focused on the abilities and the unique creative expression of the individual. Teaching methods use tools to draw out this creativity. A balance is always sought between group process and collaborative learning and individual expression.
